Spring Entertaining Essentials
Comments Off on Spring Entertaining Essentials

Entertaining is always more fun when the weather is nice, don’t you agree? With lots of occasions that are worth celebrating this Spring (i.e. Mother’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Kentucky Derby, Memorial Day, or just life!), it’s a good idea to keep some handy items around that make entertaining a bit easier and more enjoyable for you as the host. We’ve gathered a list of essentials that (all but the drinks, unfortunately) can be purchased at the shop. Take a look!

We like it when our trays are both stylish and functional. These can be used all year round and all over the house for decorative purposes, and pulled out during events to make serving easier. We have lots of different tray styles in the shop, including the three that you’ll see throughout this post.

Also, these linen napkins from John Robshaw make a great addition to any indoor or outdoor dining setting!

Love this neutral rattan tray- perfect for outdoor entertaining to house drinks, cups, etc.

Cocktail napkins are a no brainer! Our favorites are these cute & quirky napkins by August Morgan- we have lots of different styles in the shop! Coral & Tusk makes great linen napkins, as well.

You obviously have to make sure that your space smells good when your guests arrive, and that’s where Nest comes in. They have lots of refreshing scents that all have a long burn time. We have a wide variety of Nest candles in the shop, along with other brands. Diffusers are a great option, as well!

Flowers make every occasion more festive. We have lots of vases in stock to house your favorite Spring blooms!

This Society Social bar cart is perfect to store everything- we only have one left in the shop!

Try this recipe for Rosé Sangria (uhh..YUM!)

And add a little extra Spring flair with these flower filled ice cubes to chill your favorite drinks

…which you can then put in one of these gorgeous bowls from the shop!

Happy entertaining!

Peacock Alley Event Recap

We had a wonderful time at our Peacock Alley event on Tuesday! If you were able to make it, thank you so much for coming, and if you weren’t, we missed you! Mary Ella Gabler, the founder of Peacock Alley, was such a delight to meet, and it was amazing to hear her story and how Peacock Alley came to be.

It all started with a patchwork pillow…

Mary Ella loved the art of patchwork, and after spotting a beautiful one on a shopping trip she thought to herself “I could make these!” Soon after, she started giving patchwork pillows to her friends, and when she kept getting such great feedback from everyone who saw them, she decided to try her hand at making a business out of selling them.

Her first large order came from none other than Nieman Marcus (not a bad first big client if you ask us!) who placed an order for 250 of her patchwork pillows. From there, she expanded her brand to include sheets, matelassés, duvet covers, and everything else that Peacock Alley offers today.

Peacock Alley is one of our favorite brands- everything they make is beautiful and the quality of the products they produce is outstanding. We also love their mission: “Simple luxury for a well-lived life”.

Pictured below: new arrivals from Peacock Alley

Check out these details!! We’re in love.

Peacock Alley now offers pajamas which are just as beautiful as their bed linens:

*Fun fact: The name of the company comes from the famed restaurant in the Waldorf Astoria: the Peacock Alley. Mary Ella was eating there one day and thought that it would be a great name for her brand!

*Pro-tip straight from the founder herself: When it comes to sheets, there’s no need to go above 500-600 thread count. According to Mary Ella, companies will strip the yarns used in making the sheets to make the thread count appear higher.

We had such an amazing time at the event, and if you’re interested in learning more about Mary Ella or Peacock Alley, be sure to check out her new book ‘Uncommon Thread’. It’s a great read and would make a wonderful mother’s day present!

John Robshaw Spring ’16

John Robshaw’s Spring line has been out for a few weeks now, but if you haven’t seen it yet..keep on reading! You won’t regret it 😉

Amongst all of the Spring cleaning that may -or may not…we don’t judge- be going on in your home, it’s likely that you’re feeling it’s time for a refresh, especially in the bedding department. As the warmer months roll in, it’s time to get rid of those faux furs and heavy quilts and replace them with crisp percales and lighter weight duvets. If you’re like us and fall into this category, we recommend considering John Robshaw for your bed & bath. His colorful block prints, unique patterns, and high quality linens are exactly what you need to refresh your bedroom for Spring. Take a look at some of our favorite pieces from his new line!

The new quilts, coverlets and duvets consist of beautiful patterns and color combos; mix and match for an eclectic look, or go with a neutral coverlet or duvet with pops of patterns in your pillows, shams and throw for a calmer feel:

These pillows are great for either your bedroom or anywhere else in your home! As we always preach, pillows are one of the easiest ways to really change the feel of a room without the commitment of spending the big bucks. Here are some of our favorite:

We love these dip dyed throws for a pop of color:

The new bath linens are a bit more tame, but are just as beautiful:

We have John Robshaw products in the shop, as well as samples of his linens, but can of course order anything you see here or on his website!

Stop by this weekend and let us help you refresh your bedding for Spring!

Kitchen Backsplash Inspiration
Comments Off on Kitchen Backsplash Inspiration

Happy Friday! We wanted to take some time to discuss one of the most important aspects of your kitchen: the backsplash. Sure, your cabinetry, appliances, hardware & flooring are all extremely important components to consider when designing your space, but another element that should not be overlooked is your backsplash. If chosen correctly, a backsplash can be a real focal point. There are many, many different styles, patterns, colors & materials of which backsplashes are made up of, so we wanted to highlight a few of our favorites. Take a look!

Patterned tiles: a total conversation starter. There are SO many different patterns available, making it easy to find one that fits with the style of the rest of your house.

Hexagonal Tiles: a fun, contemporary pattern that can mesh with a variety of styles. Go with the basic hexagon, or spice it up with a stylized, geometric option.

Quatrefoil, petals & classic herringbone patterns are also great:

And if you’re feeling really glam, go with a marble or brushed metal backsplash:

Last but not least, the ever so classic subway tile. Sometimes this gets a bad rep for being boring, but try a different colored tile & a contrasting grout and it can be nothing short of beautiful.

These are just a few of the MANY styles of backsplashes there are. None of them are right or wrong; it’s mainly about your own personal preference and choosing a style that meshes well with the rest of your home. You’ll be the one spending the most time in your kitchen, so make sure it’s something that you won’t mind looking at everyday! If you’re in the market for a kitchen makeover, we’d love to help! Happy weekend 🙂
